Fraud Analyst (m/w/d)

We are looking for a Cologne based Fraud Analyst / Financial Investigator / Investigation Officer (m/f/d) to proceed with finance and fraud investigations. The responsibilities are focusing on the analysis of business, financial and accounting practices as well internally as of a variety of related entities and partners for the purposes of detecting and preventing financial fraud and economic crime.


Your challenges

  • Determine the appropriateness of financial processes, commissions and related investments
  • Pro-actively identify and monitor fraud patterns
  • Drive implementation of advanced antifraud procedures and collaborate to the optimization of the fraud rules performance
  • Evaluate financial compliance, disclosure, bonding standards/requirements regarding related civil and criminal federal and state laws
  • Receive, evaluate and track allegations of suspected fraud
  • Assess the fiduciary conduct and/or criminal actions of employees, decision makers, partners and service providers
  • Conduct an inquiry and investigation into the allegation to determine intent or no intent on the part of the client in all business areas
  • Calculate overpayments when the overpayment is discovered through a fraud investigation
  • Work with law enforcement agencies and certified public accountants to prepare for trial and audits and remain the interface during external audits
  • Testify what the investigation revealed, in court as needed
  • Prepare management and financial fraud-reports and trends
  • Train other staff in fraud prevention and detection and may provide guidance
  • Stay abreast of the latest fraud and crime controls, practices, techniques and capabilities in the marketplace, as well as evolving threats


Your commitment

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in loss prevention, economic fraud or e-commerce fraud resp. as fraud analyst, fraud examiner or forensic accountant
  • Very good communications and interviewing skills
  • Outstanding analytical and investigative skills  
  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, economic crime, fraud management, accounting, law or business administration preferred
  • Degree in criminal justice or a related field is a plus
  • Solid knowledge of PCI-DSS and comparing standards and certification processes
  • Certification through the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) is a plus
  • Security and compliance certification (e. g. in the areas of PCI, CISSP, Lead Auditor or ISO27001) is a plus
  • Very good in accurate documentation (paper trails etc.) and reporting of findings
  • Experience with Digital Forensics and Fraud Prevention tools is a plus
