The PAY Growth business unit is focused on driving the commercial framework and all go-to-market activities for PAY. This includes sales/business development, contracts and engagement models, partnerships, payment consulting and product marketing (with matrix support from Global Product Marketing). We are hyper-focused on driving not only the HRS “flywheel” via the powerful combination of STAY and PAY, but also our own PAY flywheel whereby both corporate clients and third-party partners benefit from leveraging HRS PAY’s technology and capabilities. The more corporate clients use PAY, the more third-party partners such as banks, card issuers, ERPs, booking platforms and other financial service providers want to partner and collaborate with us, and this drives further commercial growth for PAY by monetizing those partnership streams.


We are looking for a Japan-based Payment Consultant (m/f/d) with passion for delivering great results in order to ensure our further growth as well as the successful launch of our HRS Pay products.


  • Consult our existing and newly acquired partners in all our HRS PAY solutions and maintain an excellent professional relationship with your internal and external stakeholders.
  • Show a high-quality approach to minimizing the sales cycle and maximize the quality of the payment implementation.
  • Align with the sales teams on payment sales and payment consultancy.
  • With your in-depth knowledge in the payment field, with a particular focus on the unique nature of the Japanese corporate payment and expense market, be the first person of contact for any questions relevant to it both externally and internally.
  • Be responsible for strategic decisions, which are going to ensure the success of the implementation of our software.
  • Be a sparring partner for the C-Level Management and guide along with them our global expansion.
  • Ensure that all payment market related updates and standards are documented, up-to-date & made available to the organization.
  • Regularly provide training sessions to foster the payment knowledge within Japan and the broader APAC region.


  • University degree in business administration or equivalent studies.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a payment expert role, ideally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Background in payments, corporate banking, ERP/financial systems and workflows and/or fintech, with a market focus on Japan (and more broadly, Asia Pacific) is required, experience with in corporate lodging or travel management would be a plus.
  • Extensive experience in B2B payment, technology and/or automation solutions sales desired.
  • Solid understanding of payment and data compliance regulations, including (but not limited to) PSD2, GDPR, PCI DSS.
  • Profound experience in Business Development and Go-To market strategy and deployment.
  • Ability to conduct research and create reports based on relevant data with a strong business orientation.
  • Hands-on mentality and strong negotiation skills.
  • Passion for delivering high quality results.
  • Native Japanese speaker along with excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written is required.
  • Any additional Asian language experience is a plus.

The attractive remuneration is in line with the market and, in addition to a fixed monthly salary, all necessary work equipment and mobility, will also include an annual or multi-year bonus.
