POSITION

We are looking for a Cologne based Senior Accountant (all genders) who will take the lead on managing complex accounting processes, guiding junior accountants, and ensuring our financial operations are both accurate and efficient. You’ll play a critical role in preparing financial statements, VAT returns, and internal reports, all while driving the continuous enhancement of our accounting practices. This role will part of our international accounting team and will report into the Team Lead Accounting.  

CHALLENGE

  • Independently manage the general ledger and sub-ledgers, ensuring accurate balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Oversee the processing of all accounting transactions and provide guidance to junior accountants on procedural matters.
  • Participate in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with German accounting principles (HGB).
  • Prepare VAT returns and statistical reports, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Assist the Finance Manager by preparing internal reports that support decision-making.
  • Drive the development and enhancement of accounting processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Serve as the key contact for Group Accounting, Controlling, and Treasury teams.
  • Provide support during annual audits and tax audits, acting as a liaison with auditors and tax consultants.

FOR THIS EXCITING MISSION YOU ARE EQUIPPED WITH...

  • Completed commercial training or a degree in business management, with a focus on financial accounting or comparable training / study
  • Several years of professional experience in a comparable role, with proven expertise in accounting according to HGB.
  • Practical experience in managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and accrual accounting within both the sub-ledger and general ledger.
  • In-depth knowledge of national sales tax law and VAT reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems(currently MS Navision, transitioning to SAP).
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail and a good sense of order.
  • A high degree of hands-on mentality, commitment, and team spirit, coupled with an independent and responsible approach to work.
  • Fluent in German (minimum B2 level), with good English skills.

LOCATION, MOBILITY, INCENTIVE

The attractive remuneration is in line with the market and, in addition to a fixed monthly salary, all necessary work equipment and mobility, will also include an annual bonus.
