We are looking for a Cologne based Head of Legal (m/f/d) to lead the global HRS Group legal department in a dynamic, fast moving and international organisation.


Your challenges

  • Manage the global HRS Group legal department (develop strategies for the professionalization of legal and compliance structures within HRS Group, manage and lead the global and multidisciplinary HRS Group legal team including budget, design and implementation of legal processes and structures with and across all HRS Group markets)
  • Provide legal advice on all matters and legal fields relevant to HRS Group’s business (including technology related contracts, consumer protection, commercial contracts, anti-trust, employment, data protection, patent and financial regulatory law) to both top level management and all operational units in all HRS Group markets
  • Advice on data protection related matters (e.g. data processing agreements with customers, structures for data processing by and within HRS Group)
  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts of all kind of stakeholders (partners, customers and suppliers)
  • Participate in multidisciplinary projects and gain expertise and engage in new legal fields
  • Management of external counsels in countries with relevant operational business
  • Support contract management and standardization of process flows as well as M&A projects


Your commitment

  • Excellent exam in law (zweites Staatsexamen / second state exam) 
  • At least 9 years of relevant post-qualification experience gained in a global organization (e.g. SaaS, technology, consulting) and/or law firm 
  • Experience related to the regulatory environment of payment providers or fintechs as an advantage
  • Responsibility for the effective management including drafting and negotiation of a large volume of contracts across the range of the company’s group activities 
  • Strong business acumen and deep understanding to improve/automate processes
  • Excellent negotiations skills and strong ability to formulate complex contracts independently
  • Used to work comfortably in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a strong ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks and meet tight deadlines (as well as prioritizing efficiently and maintaining a high standard of excellence)
  • Focused and pragmatical style of work, combined with a strong entrepreneurial and pioneering way of thinking and acting
  • Excellent written and spoken German and English
